PRESENCE COURSE from September 2023

The most important first step in wildlife and animal photography is to make the image in RAW. This file is not yet compressed and still contains all the information as it comes out of the sensor. This RAW image must now be "developed" on the computer by the respective photographer. I deliberately call it image development and not image processing. The RAW image is the negative of today's digital age and must first be developed by the photographer.  

You can call it what you like, image development or image processing. In photography, it is one of the most difficult processes on the way to the finished image.

You don't always find the ideal conditions for photography, which makes the whole process even more difficult. This presents every photographer with sometimes difficult challenges in editing and finishing the images.
In this workshop you will learn how to get the most out of your images without losing their naturalness.


It is all a very delicate process, where you have to approach the images with a lot of sensitivity and should also know about the most important tools and their handling in Adobe Lightroom.
Many RAW images have a huge potential to become a beautiful, impressive final image. However, it may never come to full fruition, as usually only a fraction of the countless possibilities are exploited.

It ultimately decides how it affects the viewer

  • Own PC or laptop with Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop - latest versions

  • Cable connections from computer to screen

  • Mousepad

  • Mouse and keyboard with associated cables

  • Writing tool and notebook

  • Some basic knowledge of both programmes should be available

Programme schedule and content of the workshop:
 

  • Start at 08.30 in 5322 Hof bei Salzburg, Wolfgangseestraße 56 - in our training room

  • Introduction to digital photography

  • The most important file formats

  • Basic knowledge about saving files, structure composition

  • Colour management - white balance

  • Use of the most important tools

  • Histogram

  • Developing animal photographs in Adobe Lightroom. Learning special techniques to bring the images to life

  • Lunch break from 12.00 - 13.00

  • LOW-Light images - getting the most out of them

  • Making perfect use of light and shadow and including them in the image composition

  • Optimally working out backlight images

  • Optimising frontlight images

  • Fine-tuning in Adobe Photoshop - colouring - contrast and brightness - saving in different formats

  • Develop your personal style in this workshop and stand out from other photographers
